Juxtaposition (See Studio, 2012)
Following the publication of The Art of Dissent, Daren Ellis and I co-curated the exhibition Juxtaposition: Capturing the Changing Landscape of the Lower Lea Valley, featuring several of the book’s contributors. As we wrote then, it was “a group show bringing together work created in response to the London Olympics and the radical transformation of the Lower Lea Valley brought about by it. The works included... actively resist the Games’ consensual symbols and images, they activate the history of Hackney Wick and the Marshes against the politics of effacement, and critically explore the imprint of London’s Olympic State.”

Featured artists: Jeanette Barnes, Simon Ball, Jessie Brennan, Alessandra Chilá, Chris Dorley-Brown, Fantich & Young, David George, Stephen Gill, Laura Olfield Ford, Giles Price, Prussian7 Protonorse Breaklaw, Jim Sheppard, Sweet Toof, Wilfrid Wood, Jim Woodall, Gesche Würfel.
